thanksgiving recipes: macaroni & cheese

the thankful table

While not necessarily a staple on every Thanksgiving table, our Thanksgiving dinner almost always includes macaroni and cheese. It’s a recipe I received from Zack’s aunt a number of years ago, and it’s so popular every time I make it. It’s probably the recipe I’ve shared more than any other I use. It’s easy, it’s totally unhealthy, and it’s incredibly delicious!

This particular version is made in a slow cooker, but you could make some minor changes and bake it in the oven.

Sue's Macaroni & Cheese
I use whatever cheese I have on hand - which often ends up being a blend. But stronger cheeses like cheddar work best.

  1. Mix all ingredients together, reserving about 1 cup of the cheese for later.
  2. Pour into a greased slow cooker.
  3. Cook on low for 4-5 hours. (You can also cook it on high 2-3 hours but low is best!)
  4. Top with remaining cheese. Replace lid and continue cooking until cheese is melted.
